Another year…time for another LegalTech

A new year brings lots of things.  Resolutions (personal).  Budgets (professional … although come to think of it, a personal one would help!).  And, of course, a new year brings yet another LegalTech.

Although the show can be more than a little overwhelming (and if you’re new to LegalTech you can take solace in the fact that it’s overwhelming regardless of whether this is your first year or your fifteenth) it’s also an exciting event.  It’s the best chance of the year to reconnect with old friends and colleagues, to conveniently see what your business partners (ok, and your competitors) are up to, and to spread the word about developments within your own organization.

The 2011 LegalTech East Conference will be a big one for DiscoverReady.  Some of our events include:

Maureen O’Neill of our San Francisco office is moderating a panel on Feb. 2nd at 1:45 p.m. on the Top 5 Ethical Concerns for Lawyers in eDiscovery. She has a great group of speakers, including executives from Lehman Brothers Holdings, Cooley LLP and Crowley Law Office. This session includes CLE credit.

Also on Feb. 2nd at 10:30 a.m., I am working with a terrific panel of professionals from Barclays Capital, Genentech and Hewlett-Packard who are going to discuss Risk & Responsibility vs. Cost Control: Managing E-discovery’s Great Balancing Act. This session also includes CLE credit.

We are sponsoring the keynote presentation the morning of Wed, Feb. 2nd at 9:00 a.m. featuring Michael Rogers (New York Times Futurist-in-Residence, MSNBC.com author of the Practical Futurist column) speaking to A Look at the Law: 2020.  This session is free and open to all. Our team has gotten to know Michael over the past few months and suffice to say, I think his presentation will be entertaining and thought provoking.

And on Tuesday, Feb. 1st, I am going to deliver an educational session “demystifying” the automated review landscape, providing an overview of the varied terminology and approaches to automating portions of the review process. This presentation will take place at 4:00 p.m. in Concourse Room E on the lower level of the New York Hilton Hotel. This should be a fun session and I am going to provide a little more background in an upcoming blog prior to LegalTech.

We hope you can join us at as many of our sessions and events as possible.  Also, please be sure to stop by our booth 126-128 on the main level.  Our team has been very busy and they have some great updates to share, including a locally-installed version of PrivBank that we think will be a hit with law firm litigation support departments and with corporate customers who have taken some portion of the e-discovery process behind their firewalls.

See you in a few weeks!
